1. Manoj Sinha appointed new Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir

Former union minister and senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Sinha, was on Thursday appointed as Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. A communique issued by the President's secretariat said that the resignation of Girish Chandra Murmu as Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has been accepted.

Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor G C Murmu abruptly resigned on Wednesday and has been appointed as the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. The decision came exactly a year after the Central government reorganised Jammu and Kashmir, bifurcating it into two Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

3. 8 die after fire breaks out at COVID-19 hospital in Ahmedabad

Eight patients in the ICU ward of a private COVID-19 designated hospital died after a fire broke out there on Thursday. The fire broke out at the Shrey Hospital in Navrangpura area of Ahmedabad during the early hours of Thursday.

5. Bihar flood: CM makes aerial survey in North Bihar

The flood situation in Bihar deteriorated on Wednesday as waters from overflowing rivers originating in Nepal inundated fresh areas and the number of affected people rose to 66.60 lakh across 16 districts. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made an aerial survey of the affected areas of north Bihar and visited a village in Darbhanga district, which has been hit by the calamity.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Intense rainfall along with strong surface winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places likely over Mumbai during the next 3 hours.

7.At least 15 drown in incidents of boat capsize in Bihar

As many as 15 people have drowned in three boats capsize incidents reported from as many flood-hit districts of Bihar on Wednesday. While ten deaths were reported from Khagaria district, Saharsa and Darbhanga accounted for three and two casualties respectively.

The CBI is all set to take up the probe into the alleged suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on a reference from the Bihar government, officials said on Wednesday.

The agency is likely to re-register the FIR filed by Bihar police under IPC sections related to abetment to suicide, criminal conspiracy, cheating among other charges on a complaint from the family of the deceased actor against his rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family members.
