More parts of Bihar were on Thursday affected by floods, caused by rise in water levels of rivers originating in Nepal, though the disaster management department asserted that this has resulted in no fresh loss of lives.

The flood situation in Assam improved further on Thursday though one more person lost his life taking the toll to 134 in the calamity.

After former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan wrote to the Election Commission demanding an inquiry into the allegations that an advertising company owned by a BJP office-bearer was hired to issue election-related online advertisements, the poll body clarified that the office of the CEO did not choose the agency for the campaign.

9. Four die after consuming spurious liquor in Punjab

As many as four persons lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor at Muchhal village in Punjab's Amritsar district. All the victims belonged to families below the poverty line. Meanwhile, a four-member SIT has been constituted under a superintendent of police to investigate the case.
