1. PM Modi unveils statue of Swami Vivekananda at JNU campus
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the JNU campus on Thursday, via video conferencing."Swami Vivekananda is one of the most beloved intellectuals and spiritual leaders India has been fortunate to produce. He enthused the youth with his message of freedom, development, harmony and peace in India. He inspired citizens to take pride in Indian civilisation, culture and its industrious spirit," the JNU Vice-Chancellor said in a statement.
2. India, China to dismantle new structures under disengagement plans
As part of the disengagement proposals being discussed between India and China, the two sides would dismantle any new structures that have come up during the ongoing standoff since April-May this year in the Pangong lake area. There would also be no patrolling activity by either side between the Finger 4 and Finger 8 as China has given up on its old stand to maintain an observation post in the area.
3. Facebook extends ban on political ads in US
Facebook on Thursday extended the ban on political ads for another month in the US as President Donald Trump refuses to concede his defeat and is using claims of election fraud to dispute the Joe Biden win. The move is to prevent the further spread of misinformation on its platform. Days after banning ads prematurely declaring victory in the presidential election, Facebook in October banned those questioning the US electoral process.
4. Big boost for Real estate sector: Govt provides tax relief to home buyers
In a boost for the residential real estate sector, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced income-tax relaxation on the first-time sale of residential units worth up to Rs 2 crore. The government has increased the permitted differential between the circle rate and the agreement value of such housing units to 20% from the current mandated limit of 10% till 30 June 2021.

6.Farmers protest Chhattisgarh govt's decision of buy paddy from Dec
Chhattisgarh farmers on Thursday protested against the state government's decision to buy paddy from them on December 1 saying that it's too late for the selling of the crops. According to the farmers, if the crop is not sold in time, they will be left in a lurch without any money to celebrate Diwali. They also will not be able to pay their loans and guarding the crop will be another cause of worry.
7. 'Trump may have lost, but populist conservatism still strong'
The euphoria over Donald Trump losing the race for President may be clouding the political picture with claims of the liberals and the left crushing the conservatives. Democrat Joe Biden, of course, is ahead in the continuing vote count with record-setting 77 million votes but the five million votes separating him and Trump is only 3.4 per cent of the 149 million votes counted as of Wednesday afternoon.
8. Hong Kong pro-democracy legislators hand in resignations
Hong Kong's pro-democracy legislators began resigning in protest on Thursday, a day after the government ousted four members of their camp. The 15 remaining members of the bloc have said they will resign en masse in a show of solidarity after China's central government in Beijing passed a resolution this week that led to the four lawmakers' disqualification.
9. Delhi CM distributes cheques to sportspersons for training and coaching
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia on Thursday distributed cheques under the AAP government''s "Mission Excellence Scheme" to selected sportspersons preparing for national and international championships. Under the scheme, the Delhi government will provide financial assistance to sportspersons for training and coaching.
10. Bollywood drug probe: Actor Arjun Rampal summoned by NCB
Actor Arjun Rampal has been summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau on November 13 as part of the agency's probe into the alleged drug use in Bollywood. Earlier on November 9, the NCB had conducted a raid at the actor's residence. The probing agency had seized electronic gadgets like laptops, mobile phones, and tablets during the raid and also questioned the actor's driver.
