The first phase of Malabar naval exercise featuring navies of India, the US, Japan and Australia is set to commence off Visakhapatnam in the Bay of Bengal from November 3 to 6, an official release said on Friday. As many as four people have died while more than 100 people got injured after a strong earthquake struck between the Turkish coast and the Greek island of Samos, collapsing several buildings in Turkey's western Izmir province.

1.First phase of Malabar exercise to take place from Nov 3-6 in Bay of Bengal

The 24th edition of the MALABAR Naval exercise is scheduled in two phases in November 2020. Phase 1 of the Exercise MALABAR 20 involving participation by Indian Navy (IN), United States Navy (USN), Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF), and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) is set to commence off Visakhapatnam in the Bay of Bengal from 03 to 06 November 2020.

2.4 dead, 120 injured in Turkey earthquake: Health Minister

A strong earthquake struck Friday between the Turkish coast and the Greek island of Samos, collapsing several buildings in Turkey's western Izmir province and leaving at least four people dead. Dozens more were injured, while some damage to buildings and the road network, and four-light injuries were also reported on Samos.

3.Faridabad murder case: VHP seeks 1 cr compensation for victim's family

Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday sought one crore compensation for the family of Nikita Tomar who was shot dead in broad daylight last week in Haryana's Faridabad. The organisation has also demanded new legislation to stop 'Love Jihad' and forceful conversion.

The death toll from typhoon Molave in the Philippines has increased to 22, while four others remained missing and 39 people were injured, the government disaster agency said on Friday, adding that another storm was fast approaching.

5.China condemns Pompeo over religion remarks

The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday accused US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of "fabricating all kinds of lies" about Beijing "out of ideological prejudice and selfish political interests".Pompeo labelled China's ruling Communist Party the "gravest threat to the future of religious freedom" during a visit to Vietnam and has spoken extensively about China while on a five-nation Asia tour this week.

8.Rajasthan govt may bring bill against Centre's farm laws tomorrow

The Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan is likely to introduce an amendment bill to counter the Centre's new farm laws when the state assembly convenes on Saturday. The fifth session of the current assembly was adjourned on August 24 and the House will resume its business on October 31, according to the Rajasthan Legislative Secretariat.
