1. Schools to reopen after October 15: Education Ministry issues SOP

The Union Ministry of Education on Monday issued guidelines for reopening of schools after October 15 during the Unlock 5 phase. The guidelines have been issued in accordance with the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL). As per the guidelines, schools and coaching institutions can open in a graded manner after October 15.

2. Security of Hathras victim's family tightened

The security of the family of the Dalit woman who died a fortnight after being allegedly gangraped in Hathras district has been tightened and her brother has been provided with two gunners, a senior Uttar Pradesh government official said Monday. In the village, 12-15 PAC personnel have been deployed for '24-hour security' of the family, Hathras police said, adding that two security men have been deployed for the brother.

3. Punjab farmers petition Supreme Court against farm laws

Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) of Punjab on Monday moved the Supreme court against three Farm Acts. The Union filed a 400-page petition against the acts. The three farm bills -- The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020 were signed by the President of India and notified by Law Ministry.
4. Kerala gold smuggling case: Swapna Suresh granted bail

Kerala gold smuggling case, key accused, Swapna Suresh was granted bail by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kochi as the customs did not file charge sheet in the case even after 60 days. However, she will not be released from the jail as she is accused in the case registered by NIA.

5. Rs 20,000 crore compensation cess to be disbursed to states: FM Nirmala Sitharaman

Addressing the press conference on the 42nd GST council meeting Monday Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman says that Rs 20,000 crore compensation cess to be disbursed to states. Also, the Finance Secretary said that GST Council exempts satellite launch services by ISRO, Antrix. Finance Minister said GST Council decides to extend compensation cess beyond June 2022.

6. India Inc shying away from fresh investments in economy

New investment proposals in India, both from the public and private sector, have hit their lowest levels in nearly 16 years after the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, indicating that the sagging economy may not turn around anytime soon.

8. Governor unhurt as car bomb kills eight in Afghanistan

Afghanistan's Laghman province Governor Rahmatullah Yarmal has survived a suicide bombing but it left at least eight people killed and 38 wounded. No one has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

9. IPL 2020: RCB win toss, elect to field against DC

In the 19th match of IPL 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and have opted to field against Delhi Capitals here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday. As Amit Mishra has been ruled out of IPL due to a flexor tendon injury, Axar Patel will play today's game for DC. RCB currently ranked third while DC second with six points each. DC has a better Net Run Rate than RCB.

10. SSR case: After AIIMS rules out 'murder', CBI says 'meticulously looking all aspect'

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday revealed that the agency is still probing into the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and 'all aspects are being looked meticulously'. CBI's official statement comes two days after receiving a report from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) that "hinted" that the death of Rajput was suicide and not murder.
