New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Tamil Nadu unit is delighted to take the 2021 state assembly elections as its national president JP Nadda said that the saffron party is not against the reservation and social justice.
The BJP which wants to make inroads into Tamil Nadu has been facing the criticism from the Dravidian parties that BJP is against reservation and social justice – which is a crucial agenda in Tamil Nadu for every election.
Tamil Nadu’s ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), opposing Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), RS MP Vaiko’s Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) had recently moved the SC to ensure the 50% OBC quota in the state capture all India quota seats in medical admissions.
While hearing the matter, the SC stated that reservation is not a fundamental right according to the constitution. Thus it made Lok Jana Sakthi Party (LJP) leader and Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan make an open invitation to all the parties in the nation for saving the reservation rights.
In order to clear the air, the BJP president JP Nadda said, “The government under PM Modi and the BJP are committed to the reservation. Our commitment to social justice is unbreakable. We stand committed to the reservation. PM Modi has repeated it again and again. Our endeavour is always towards social harmony and equal opportunity for everyone," he said.
DMK which has been severely charging BJP for its stance towards reservation had welcomed Nadda’s statement.
“As the country has been clearly observing the pulse and mindset of BJP, its leader JP Nadda had cleared that his party is not against reservation. Though it is a delayed statement, I thank him. The BJP leader should have come out with this statement since he might have thought backlash from Indian citizens,” Stalin said in a statement.
