Man hacked to death inside TN hospital

A 40-year-old patient undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Madurai was hacked to death by a gang of four armed men inside the hospital.

Madurai (Tamil Nadu): In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old man accused of in the murder of Rajasekaran that took place in July 2019 was hacked to death by an armed four-member gang in a government hospital here.

The deceased identified as V Murugan was being treated for kidney stones at the Rajaji government hospital.

The incident took place early on Monday morning inside the intensive care unit in ward number 101. The deceased is survived by a wife and two children.

According to police, a gang of four-armed with sharp weapons entered the annexure Building of GRH at around 5.30 am and hacked Murugan to death. The daring incident sent shivers among other patients and their attenders in the hospital building.

Security posted at the ward alerted the police. However, they managed to escape.

Upon receiving the information, police officials including deputy commissioner of police (law and order) E Karthick reached the spot.

According to the police, more than 10 CCTV cameras are installed in and around the ward and the footage is being checked by the police. GRH is the one of the busiest hospitals in Tamil Nadu with more than 2,500 beds.

Police suspect a previous enmity behind the murder. The role of Rajasekaran 's wife in the murder is also being investigated. Police have registered a case in this connection and further investigation is underway.
