Thousands of lawyers protest at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi: A large number of lawyers in Delhi on Tuesday participated in a protest march from Patiala House Court to Jantar Mantar for multiple demands like medical facilities, budgetary allocations and many more.

According to Advocate Yudhvir Singh Chauhan, one of the organising members of the protest, said that there were atleast "15,000 to 20,000" lawyers who gathered at the spot.

The demands raised by the lawyers include medical facility, insurance, housing schemes, financial assistance to young lawyers, pension schemes and library.

Chauhan also added that there should be amendments in the Legal Service Authority Act.

The members or Bar Council of India allege that the government is trying to dismantle the union of advocates and is not listening to their demands.
