New Delhi: The festival of Holi is incomplete without Gujiya (sweets) as it is without colours.

The inmates of Tihar Jail might be locked up behind iron bars but that has not affected the festive spirit of the prisoners at South Asia's largest jail in Delhi and this time they came up with an idea to make sweets on Holi using pure ingredients.

The inmates of Tihar jail have made Gujiyas which were very much liked by people.

There is a possibility that the sweets people buy on Holi from outside are adulterated which can be harmful to health. In such a situation, sweets being made inside the jail are proving very beneficial.

The IG of Tihar said that the purity and quality of each product made in Tihar Jail are different.

According to the jail authorities, pure ingredients are used to make Gujiya. Gujiya made by the detainees in the Jail is absolutely perfect and unmatched.

The jail authorities are hopeful that the quality and hygiene of TJ’s products would give them an added advantage as quality control is strictly enforced. People come from far away to buy gujiya from here.

The Gujiya made in Tihar jail is available at a much cheaper price against the market prices. A packet of 400 grams of Gujia just sells at Rs 100 which is much cheaper than the outside.
