Dehradun (Uttarakhand):As many as 333 cadets were commissioned into the Army after a passing-out parade at the Indian Military Academy here. As many as ninety candidates from nine other nations, including Afghanistan, Mauritius, Maldives, Tajikistan and Fiji, too passed out from the academy after completing their training.
The parents or relatives of cadets usually pip-in the ranks on the shoulders of cadets after the passing out parade, they become commissioned officers in the Indian Army.
Army General Chief MM Naravane, the chief guest of the event too joined in the pipping ceremony by putting a star on the uniform of a young cadet.
Army General Chief asked the young officers to maintain discipline, stressing that no war can be won without it.
As this was the first time in the history that the POP was live-streamed on media channels, Youtube and social media amid coronavirus pandemic.
