Chennai:Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit was on Sunday admitted to a private hospital in Alwarpet, Chennai after his staff member tested positive for COVID-19. He was in home isolation after his staff tested positive for the infection.
However, sources said that Purohit was admitted for his routine medical check-up and his condition is stable.
Earlier, Governor Banwarilal Purohit had isolated himself for one week after more than 80 functionaries and staff of the Raj Bhavan tested positive for Covid-19.
The press statement issued by Raj Bhavan had stated that the governor would be in self-isolation as advised by his doctor for seven days. Raj Bhavan officials are monitoring the situation and have advised staff members to follow all the COVID-19 protocols.
Last month, 84 people in Raj Bhavan officials, including security and fire service personnel tested positive for the infection and panic gripped the people. The building was sealed and sanitisation drive was carried out. However, none of the officials came in contact with the Governor or other senior officials of Raj Bhavan.
