Shimla:Himachal Pradesh, once praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for containing COVID-19 cases, is facing a grim situation now. According to the latest data of COVID-19 cases, Himachal Pradesh tops the chart in India.
Acknowledging the surge in COVID-19 cases, Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Dr Rajiv Saizal stated that efforts have been maximised to curb the increase. A door to door campaign will be launched on November 25. Officials will document the health status of the people across the state.
Himachal Pradesh tops the country with the highest active cases
According to official data, 22 people succumbed to COVID-19 on November 23 in the state. The number of active cases in the state is 20.48 per cent amounting to the highest proportion in the country. In total, there are 7037 active cases in the state. A three-member team from the Centre is scheduled to visit the state to monitor the condition of COVID-19 infection.
Shimla reported the highest number of cases in the state
Within ṭhe state, capital Shimla has reported the maximum number of cases with 24.69 per cent active cases. On November 1, 482 active cases were reported. The number of cases has increased to 1,737 on November 23. Over the last 22 days, there were 11,642 COVID cases in the state.
Close to 34 per cent cases in the State were reported from Shimla. In a week, more than 800 people have died in the district due to COVID-19.
