New Delhi:The Supreme Court Bar Association on Wednesday organised a meeting through video conferencing to bid farewell to Justice Deepak Gupta.
According to reports, Supreme Court Judge, Justice Deepak Gupta, retired today and the court for the first time in history bid farewell to an outgoing judge through video conferencing. Various lawyers, judges, journalists attended his farewell through zoom app where Attorney General KK Venugopal and Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave praised Justice Gupta for his years in the bar.
"Today, as I hang up my robes after 42 years in the profession, I have enjoyed every moment of it. Though I end the relationship with the court, my relationship with Bar can and will never end," said Justice Deepak Gupta in his farewell speech.
Calling the constitution as the holy book of judges, Justice Gupta said that a judge has to forget his beliefs and decide only based on the constitution which is the "Bible, our Gita, our Quran, our Guru Granth Sahib, and other texts."
"I may have been an activist judge, but I have never crossed my boundaries. I knew my limitations," said Justice Gupta.
"The judges must see that the organs work within their limits. To be a good lawyer, you have to first be a good human being. You have to be sensitive to everyone's problems," suggested Justice Gupta.
