SP provides financial help of Rs 1 lakh to girl who cycled to Darbhanga from Gurugaon

Saluting the courage of the 15-year-old, Samajwadi Party on Tuesday provided Rs 1 lakh as financial assistance to Jyoti Kumari, who cycled almost 1,200 km to Darbhanga in Bihar from Gurgaon carrying her injured father on pillion.

Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party on Tuesday provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Jyoti Kumari, who cycled almost 1,200 km to Darbhanga in Bihar from Gurgaon carrying her injured father on the pillion.

"The amount of Rs 1 lakh was sent in the account of Phulo Devi, mother of Jyoti Kumari by the party on Tuesday," a party office-bearer said here.

Saluting the courage of the 15-year-old, SP president Akhilesh Yadav had on May 21 announced Rs 1 lakh assistance for her.

Offers of help have poured in for Jyoti after she was forced to pedal the huge distance with her father sitting on pillion to reach home.

Her toughness and endurance became one of the stories that have defined the difficulties migrants have faced during the lockdown.
