Mumbai:Maharashtra School education department started online and digital education across Maharashtra two days ago. However, according to the survey done by the State Education Department, it has come forth that online and digital education can create a huge fuss in the state. Only 61 % of students in the state can be connected through Whatsapp, whereas the remaining 39 % of students do not have Whatsapp. Nearly 31.76 % of students do not have mobile phones.
Nearly 35 % of students in the state do not have Television. Around 10 % of students in rural and tribal belts do not have television, mobile, radio and any other facility to avail online education. This has come forth in a survey done by the School education department.
In the backdrop of coronavirus, Maharashtra education department did a survey to find ways for providing online education in the state. For this the department garnered information on how many students in the state can be connected through Whatsapp, SMS, how many have television, radio, etc. and thus came to a very shocking conclusion. However, this is representative information and more information is expected on a taluka level, says the education department.
