Security beefed up across India ahead of 73rd Independence Day

Security has been tightened in the national capital and other parts of the nation ahead of the 73rd Independence Day. A multi-layered security ring has been put up around the Red Fort as well.

New Delhi: Security has been tightened in various parts of the country ahead of the 73rd Independence Day and in view of the Centre scrapping the constitutional provisions that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Vehicles are being checked in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as in the national capital.

In Gorakhpur, police and dog squad conducted security inspections at Gorakhpur Junction railway station.

Security tightened in Gorakhpur

A multi-layered security ring, including NSG snipers, elite SWAT commandos and kite catchers, will be placed around the Red Fort, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation.
