Scindia supports resolution to scrap Article 370

Welcoming the Centre's decision, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia tweeted, "I support the move on Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and its full integration into union of India. Would have been better if constitutional process had been followed. No questions could have been raised then. Nevertheless, this is in our country’s interest and I support this.

Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi hit out at the United Nations (UN) for its silence on the matter and sought the intervention of the United States.

The former Pakistani skipper advocated for Kashmiris' due rights as guaranteed by the UN resolution. He said the unprovoked aggression, crimes being committed in Kashmir must be noted.

He also said in his tweet that ‘unprovoked aggression and crimes in Kashmir against humanity must be noted.” He also appealed to the US President to take a role in mediating the ‘dispute’.

Rajasthan minister welcomes Article 370 scrapping

Rajasthan minister Ashok Chandna today welcomed the Centre's decision to abrogate provisions of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, adding to the list of Congress leaders who have ditched the party line of opposing the move.
         
Chandana, the state youth affairs and sports minister, however said that it was his personal view.
         
"It is my personal view. Abrogating Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir is the first decision of the government, which I welcome," he tweeted.
         
"...But implementation of abrogating Article 370 should be done peacefully and in the environment of trust instead of dictatorial. It should be disposed peacefully so that no citizen of the country face any problem in the future," he added.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi broke his silence on Article 370 issue. He wrote on his Twitter, "The move is unconstitutional & undemocratic."

"National integration isn't furthered by unilaterally tearing apart J&K, imprisoning elected representatives and violating our Constitution. This nation is made by its people, not plots of land. This abuse of executive power has grave implications for our national security," Rahul Gandhi posted.

In another tweet, he also called for the release of Kashmir’s mainstream political leaders.

Detained at home; 'dictatorial' authority invoked in J-K: Farooq Abdullah

National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah said that he has been put under house arrest, asserting that a "dictatorial" authority has been invoked and not a "democratic" one in Jammu and Kahmir.

In an emotional outburst, the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said he "broke the door" to come out and speak to the media.

Emphasising that the guarantee of the Article370 was in India's Constitution, he said,"dictatorial authority has been invoked and not a democratic authority that we thought they will invoke. I don't know how many have been arrested. Nobody is allowed to come in or go out, we are under house arrest," he said.

BSP supports Centre over scrapping of Article 370: Mayawati

 "There was a long-pending demand to scrap Articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution with the intention of ensuring social, economic and political justice. The party now expects that people of the region will be benefitted from the Centre's decision," the former UP Chief minister said in a tweet.

 In another tweet, she said, "The decision to make Ladakh a Union territory was a long-pending demand of the Buddhist people living there, which has been fulfilled. The BSP also welcomes this."

Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah on Monday announced in the Rajya Sabha that Article 370 of the Indian Constitution is to be abrogated under the Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 2019 signed by President Ram Nath Kovind. This Gazette Notification states that, "[Constitution Order] shall come into force at once, and shall thereupon supersede [Article 370] as amended from time to time."

New Delhi:Centre on Monday modified the Article 370, that grants special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Congress leader Dr Karan Singh refused to talk to the media citing 'personal reasons' after Union minister Amit Shah addressed the Parliament amid ruckus. 

Shah proposed to bifurcate the state into two separate Union Terretories- Jammu and Kashmir, with a legislature and Ladakh without a legislature.
