New Delhi:The Supreme Court bench led by the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, asked the central government and the Delhi government to respond over a plea which seeks CBI investigation into the Tablighi Jamaat incident where thousands of people had assembled and did not vacate even after the lockdown was imposed due to coronavirus.

The petition was filed by Jammu based advocate, Supriya Pandit, who questioned the role of the centre, Delhi government and Delhi police into the assembly of thousands of people during the pandemic, risking the health of millions of people.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the Union of India will file a reply within a week.

On 13th March, 3400 people at assembled at Nizamuddin Markaz, Delhi for Talibaghi Jamaat's event.

Though many of them had left the place, 1000 remained to vacate the premises after the lockdown had announced on March 24 by PM Narendra Modi. Many of them were found corona positive and infected others while returning to their respective home towns.
