New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday has refused to entertain a petition seeking uniform education policy or uniform syllabus for the students aged between 6 to 14 years across the nation.
The plea filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member and Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay has sought merger of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) boards as well.
The bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud observed that these are not the functions of the court as it is a policy matter and the apex court can not interfere in the issue.

"It's up to the petitioner to approach the government with his grievances," Justice Chandrachud added.
Dismissing the plea, Justice Chandrachud also questioned Advocate Upadhyay on why he wants to increase the students' burden by adding more books when they are already burdened with heavy school bags on their shoulders.
Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay told media that he will submit a detailed representation to the Prime Minister's Office, Union Home Ministry and the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
"If required I will approach the High Court under Article 226 after a month," the Advocate said.
