New Delhi:The Supreme Court bench led by the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, on Friday issued a notice in a matter seeking removal of the Nagaland Lokayukta for 'acts of impropriety'.

Nagaland government had moved to the apex court against Lokayukta for engineering a letter from the Chief Secretary's department allowing him to work from Delhi.

Lokayukta had insisted that he can function online from Delhi as his house is far away from the office, the terrain is hilly, he has a library in Delhi and security reasons. He had made a representation for this to the Chief Secretary and had engineered a letter of approval from there. When CS got to know, he immediately wrote to Lokayukta starting that there was no approval, it stands withdrawn and the government needs to conduct an enquiry into it.

Further, the Nagaland government accuses Lokayukta of passing certain regulations permitting him to function from Delhi which also took away all the powers of Upa Lokayukta.

He directed the CM to conduct an enquiry against Dy CM, wanted to get rid off frisking at the airport, wanted CM's house which was converted into a VIP guest house etc. The notice issued is returnable in two weeks.
