Jaipur: A Scheduled Caste family from a village of Bharatpur district in Rajasthan has urged the state administration to either take action against the people who allegedly forced them to evict their village over a year ago or allow the family to commit suicide.
SC family alleges harassment; wants action against culprits or permission for mass suicide Maharaj Singh, the head of the family told media outside the secretariat here that he has complained against the powerful people of the village, who would not let his family live in peace and always harass his daughters and other women members of the family as and when they would go out for any work.
"As I objected to their behaviour, they beaten me up," he said.
"I have met all police officials, including some at the top level, many a times in the past one year but nothing has been done ensure safety and security of my family," he said, adding that "I can't work and the family is on the verge of collapse".
"My children can't go to school as we have been displaced. We cannot go back as the people in question are roaming free," he said, urging the administration to arrest them and face the law.
He said: "My demands are simple either they should be arrested so that we can return to our village and start working as usual or my family should be allowed to commit suicide".
