Sandalwood drug case: Cases against Viren Khanna explained

Four FIRs have been registered against Viren Khanna, who according to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Karnataka police is the kingpin in the Sandalwood drug case. The police say that Khanna was instrumental in ensuring the flow of drugs and arranging drug parties.

Bangalore: The police have filed four FIRs against Viren Khanna, who is accused of organising drug parties along with actresses Ragini and Sanjjana Galrani.

The first FIR against Khanna was registered in 2018 at Cubbon Park Station. The police had filed a case against him for allegedly creating nuisance in public by using loudspeakers till late at night in a private hotel.

In 2018, Banasavadi police had arrested one Pratik Shetty and his gang and seized drugs worth Rs. 1.70 crores from them. Viren Khanna too was an accused in the case. Viren Khanna was convicted in the case for buying drugs from Prateek Shetty and selling them to customers at parties.

Viren Khanna is identified as the kingpin in the Sanjana-Ragini Drugs case. He has allegedly organised rave parties in the city and was in touch with the main drug peddlers in Bengaluru. An FIR in this regard was also filed against Khanna at Cottonpet police station. Karnataka's Central Crime Branch (CCB) has launched an investigation in the case.

The fourth case against Khanna was for impersonating the police. Khanna allegedly appeared at a party wearing a police uniform. He has been accused of misusing police uniforms on several occasions.
