Ruby R Manoharan named Cong candidate for Nanguneri Assembly seat by-poll

The Congress has named Ruby R Manoharan as its candidate for the October 21 by-poll to the Nanguneri Assembly seat in Tamil Nadu after getting approval from the Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): The Congress on Friday named Ruby R Manoharan as its candidate for the October 21 by-poll to the Nanguneri Assembly seat in Tamil Nadu.

On the other hand, AIADMK Coordinator, O. Pannneerselvam, and Joint Coordinator, K Palaniswami, announced the candidature of M R Muthamilselvan and V Narayanan for Vikravandi and Nanguneri constituencies, respectively on Wednesday.

The by-poll was necessitated after H Vasantha Kumar resigned from the Tamil Nadu Assembly following his election to the Lok Sabha from Kanyakumari.

The Congress won the Nanguneri seat in the DMK alliance in 2016.

However, "Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the candidature of Ruby Manoharan for the Nanguneri by-poll," an All India Congress Committee (AICC) press release said.

Manoharan heads the Ruby Group of Companies.
