RSS meeting was a step towards peaceful dialogue: Jamia Hamdard Univ VC

Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University, Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain spoke to ETV Bharat and said that RSS meeting was important to analyse their ideology and understand their agenda. They want to convey the message of peace with dialogue.

New Delhi:In an attempt to ensure peace is maintained post-Ayodhya verdict, RSS recently held a meeting with Muslim dignitaries in Delhi. Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University was also a member of the meeting. While talking to ETV Bharat, Syed disclosed the key elements of the meeting.

Terming the Ayodhya conflict as crossroads, he said that it was important to attend their meeting to analyse their ideology and understand their agenda.

"It is a common public perception that RSS is an anti-Muslim body. The meeting was an opportunity for RSS to come out and clear their image of being anti-Muslim. They wanted to convey a message that they are here to start a peaceful dialogue," he said.

"When it was questioned during the meeting that will they accept the judgement if it comes out against their stand. To which they replied a firm yes and said that they will honour the judgement," he added.

While talking about Ayodhya verdict, Syed said, "Our religion teaches us patience and be kind to one another. If it is your holy place then you take it. We can build masjid somewhere else. But this compromise must not be considered as our weakness. And we must be ensured that there will be no violence in future."
