Rs 77,640 crore released for AMRUT project to states

The government has released a total of Rs 77,640 crore to states for several action plans under Prime Minister's flagship scheme Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

New Delhi: The government has released a total of Rs 77,640 crore to states for several action plans under Prime Minister's flagship scheme Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).


While speaking to ETV Bharat, Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said "Out of total fund, Rs 35,990 is allocated to centre and Rs 41,000 has been allocated for states and local bodies. A high-level committee has been formed in states for monitoring the implementation of the project", Mishra added.

The AMRUT scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June with an aim to establish an infrastructure that could ensure adequate robust sewage networks and water supply for urban transformation.Like Swachh Bharat Mission, Housing for all 2022 is another flagship scheme of government to bring a transformation in rural and urban areas.

As per government statistics in possession of ETV Bharat, Telangana has received more than Rs 135 crore whereas Andhra Pradesh received Rs 91.394 crore and Rajasthan received more than 150 crores and Maharashtra received Rs 500 crore for the entire period (2015-20).
