Kanpur: In a first, students and teachers of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) have conducted research to identify the criminals with the help of their facial expressions and body temperatures. The team has conducted massive research on human emotions like guilt and shame and found out that temperatures of criminals' face can drop ample hints about his/her involvement. The research says that a rise in face temperature indicates a person's involvement in criminal activities.
Based on lie detector and Narco test techniques, face detector method was used by the IIT Kanpur team for their research.
Professor of Humanities and Social Science department Braj Bhushan, Mechanical engineer professor PK Panigarhi, researchers Shabnam Basu and Saurabh Dutta conducted the research in two phases.
In the first research, 30 students were asked to write down incidents in which they faced embarrassment and shame and it was given a pictorial presentation.
