New Delhi: Post-mortem report of Ratan Lal, the head constable who was killed during clashes over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the north-east Delhi, revealed that he was shot dead. Ironically, the FIR filed on the basis of the statement of constable Sunil Kumar states that Lal died due to stone pelting.
Kumar said, ''With sticks, iron rods and stones in their hands, protesters started stone-pelting and attacked the cops. Policemen were attacked with sticks and stones which were hidden in the nearby tents leaving them injured. Protesters, including women were large in numbers and even snatched tear gas shells from the police. Amidst all this, a group of agitators attacked constable Ratan Lal and he was severely injured."
''Lal was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors. ACP Gokalpuri Anuj and Shahdara DCP Amit Kumar Sharma were also hurt,'' said Sunil Kumar.
