Ranchi police to interrogate minor who hurled rape threats against MSD's daughter

The 16-year-old student, who allegedly threatened to rape and kill MS Dhoni's daughter, will be taken to Ranchi for further investigation. The minor was nabbed in Gujarat and an investigation is underway.

Ranchi: A police team will be sent to Kutch district in Gujarat to take custody of the minor who allegedly made rape threats against the daughter of the former captain of Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni, said police.

"We are sending our team to Kutch district in Gujarat to bring the accused to Ranchi. After interrogation, further action will be taken. Other accused in the case will also be traced and arrested. An investigation is underway," said Naushad Alam, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ranchi Rural, Jharkhand.

A 16-year-old student from Gujarat's Kutch district was arrested for allegedly hurling rape and murder threats.

"Following the lead given by Ranchi police about the suspect's location, we formed a team to trace and catch the suspect. Reaching the location, we found that the suspect is a 16-year-old student. We are interrogating him about his involvement in the said incident," Superintendent of Police (SP) West Kutch Saurabh Tolambia told reporters.

"We are waiting for Ranchi police to take him over and interrogate further on this case," he added.

The case was registered at Ratu Police Station in Ranchi of Jharkhand.

The teenager had "confessed" to have posted the threatening message on the Instagram account after the IPL 2020 match between KKR and CSK cricket teams.

Dhoni is captaining the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricket team in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season.

The nature of the threat had caused a huge outrage on social media, with several cricketers, politicians and celebrities expressing disgust and demanding action.
