Rajkot: The country since the coming of the pandemic has been facing a lot of problems and events.

The issues of migrant workers and their reverse migration have been a topic of consistent debates for many weeks.

Although migrants from other states have left the Saurashtra region, workers from Rajasthan’s Barmer district who were working in the bedi market yard in Rajkot, have returned to work.

Vallabh Bhai, a trading agent told ETV Bharat that around 2,000 labourers were engaged in the work of bedi-making for many years.

"Workers left when the lockdown was announced but following relaxation, the work has resumed," told Vallabh.

When he learnt that those workers who had gone back to Barmer district were sitting idle at home, he talked to the marketing yard management and with the help of the collectors of Rajkot and Barmer brought back 27 labourers.

At present, all the labourers from Rajasthan have been placed under quarantine and arrangement for their stay and food has also been made.

Once their stipulated quarantine period ends, they will get back to work.

However, the workers have requested a reduction in their quarantine days since there are few positive cases in Barmer district and they cannot afford to remain idle for a period of 14 days.
