Rajasthan govt teacher made breathing aid with scrap materials; costs only Rs 1100

An innovative government teacher hailing from Rajasthan's Udaipur has made a breathing aid with the help of scrap materials which costs only Rs 1,100. He has made the equipment during the lockdown and named it as -'Jeevanodak', which means life saviour.

Udaipur (Rajasthan):At the time when the country has been facing a huge scarcity of ventilators while dealing with the deadly coronavirus, a government teacher along with his son has made a breathing aid with the help of scrap materials.

The teacher has named the equipment as- Jeevanodak, which has been derived from the Sanskrit language meaning- 'life saviour'.

The innovative teacher Durgesh Shankar has been associated with a government school as a physics teacher. When he came to know about the scarcity of breathing equipment in the country, he has decided to help the government by making such equipment which can be easily available and also affordable.

While talking to ETV Bharat, Durgesh Shankar said that the equipment is not a ventilator but an Ambu bag. He informed that they have used motor, bike's clutch wire, bike's gear, TV switch, thermocol and wood while making the breathing aid.

While Vibhor Chotriya, the son of the teacher said, "I have a good knowledge of coding. When my father shared me the idea, I asked my father If I could contribute my coding experience in the innovation."

While calculating the cost of artificial breathing aid, the teacher said it costs only Rs 1,100 and it can be minimised to almost Rs 800.

Durgesh Shankar also said that he is ready to share the formula of making the Ambu bag to the government.
