Railways cancels all regular train tickets booked earlier till June 30

After plying special trains for stranded people, Indian Railways on Wednesday announced to cancel all train ticket bookings made earlier for journeys till June 30. The cancellation process will be automated and the refunds will be given to the passengers with effect from March 21.

New Delhi:The Indian Railways has decided to cancel all regularly scheduled trains till 30th June 2020, according to a circular issued by the Railway Board.

The types of trains cancelled include mail or express trains, passenger trains and suburban/local train services.

However, Shramik Special Trains, Special Trains started from 12th May and future special trains that may be operated by the transporter will continue to run.

After plying special trains for stranded people, Indian Railways on Wednesday announced to cancel all train ticket bookings made earlier for journeys till June 30. The revised guidelines on cancellation of already booked tickets and refund of fare are effective from March 21, 2020.

Accordingly, the railways will not issue any RAC tickets, while it will start issuing the waiting list from May 22 because some passengers are cancelling their tickets at the last moment.

Notably, passengers will be able to get waiting tickets for special trains from May 22 and the booking for the same will start from May 15.

The scope of the waiting list will be limited and the time limit for ticket cancellation through PRS counter has been extended for 280 days.
