Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath today joined the party's protest against the contentious farm laws in Chhindwara. He further went on to accuse the Modi government of using the funding drive for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a diversionary tactic.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda held

According to reports, leader of opposition in the Haryana Assembly, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was held by the police in Chandigarh during the party's protest against the farm laws.

"Today, the arrest of all our leaders in Chandigarh is a symbol of the dictatorship of the government. The government is trying to suppress the voice of the farmers, and wants to crush every voice raised. We will neither be afraid nor will stop," Hooda tweeted.

Lamba cut her hand after coming in contact with a barbed wire

Delhi Congress leader Alka Lamba was injured during the party's protest march towards the L-G house.

According to reports, Congress leaders and the police faced off at the protest site, and as the situation grew tense, Lamba came in contact with a barbed wire and suffered a cut in her hand.

After suffering the injury, Lamba said the blood oozing out of her wound was in honour of the protesting farmers.

She added that the police erected barbed wire fences to stop the protesting Congress leaders despite the party carrying out a peaceful march towards the L-G House.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined the march to the Governor House in the national capital today, as part of the party's nationwide agitation to express solidarity with the ongoing farmers' protest against the three new farm reform laws.

The party has asked all its state units to gherao Raj Bhavans in their states and the houses of LGs in Union Territories.

Congress Party has demanded a repeal of the farm laws brought by the Central government against which farmer organisations have been sitting in protest at the various borders of Delhi for 50 days now.

Rahul urges public to 'speak up' for farmers

New Delhi: Asking people to join the farmers' "satyagraha" against the Modi government, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday spoke out in support of the ongoing protests and against rising fuel prices in the country. 

The Congress is observing the day as Kisan Adhikar Divas and will take out protest marches in all state capitals.

Participating in the "SpeakUpForKisanAdhikar" campaign of his party, Gandhi said on Twitter, "The country's farmers are holding a satyagraha against the arrogant Modi Government to win their rights."

"The entire country today is raising its voice against the atrocities being committed on farmers and the rise in price a of petrol and diesel.

You should also join this campaign and be a part of this satyagraha," he added in his Twitter post in Hindi.

The party has backed the farmers' agitation and demanded a repeal of the Centre's three new farm laws.

The #SpeakUpForKisanAdhikar campaign was launched on a day the government and farmers are set to hold their ninth round of talks in a bid to end the deadlock.
