New Delhi: The BJP on Wednesday attacked Congress former president Rahul Gandhi and said he should quit politics, in case he can't bear the burden of expectations of people.

Speaking to the ETV Bharat here, BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma said leaders, as they go to the public seeking their vote and support to form the government, have a huge burden of expectations of the public and they must try and work accordingly.

"There's a saying in English that quitters never win and winners never quit," she said, questioning the timings of Rahul Gandhi's foreign visit.

"...you are not serious. Just by your surname, you should not be in politics," she said.

"There are elections in two important states - Haryana and Maharashtra - and their leader Rahul Gandhi is on a foreign tour,' she said, commenting on senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid's statement wherein he had said that party was unlikely to win elections in these two states.

The BJP leader, however, termed it as 'an internal matter of the party', and accused Gandhi family of wanting party leaders to bow down before it.
