New Delhi: The father of an Indian soldier who had reportedly been injured at the Galwan face-off earlier this week, hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for indulging in politics over the issue.
Father of injured Indian jawan Earlier yesterday, the Congress leader had shared a video report which showed the man, the father of an Indian soldier, purportedly revealing that the Indian troops were unarmed during the face-off.
Sharing the video, Gandhi wrote: "It's sad to see senior GOI ministers reduced to lying in order to protect the PM. Don't insult our martyrs with your lies."
Responding to the above, the man in a video can be seen telling the Congress leader not to indulge in politics.
"The Indian Army is a strong army and can defeat China. Rahul Gandhi don't indulge in politics over this... My son fought in the army and will continue fighting in the army," the father of the injured soldier can be heard saying.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah too shared the video of the man, and said the Congress leader should rise above petty politics.
"A brave armyman's father speaks and he has a very clear message for Mr. Rahul Gandhi. At a time when the entire nation is united, Mr. Rahul Gandhi should also rise above petty politics and stand in solidarity with national interest," Shah wrote on Twitter.
Over the past few days, Gandhi has been on an offensive against the Centre, accusing it of being "fast asleep" as Indian troops lost their lives.

However, when Gandhi had claimed that the Indian troops were unarmed, the government and the ruling BJP seemingly contradicted each other as they responded to the Congress leader's claims.
While Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar clarified that the soldiers did in fact carry arms during the face-off, BJP national Vice President Baijayant Jay Panda soon contradicted the Minister.
Who sent out Indian troops without weapons? The answer is an agreement barring weapons within 2 km of Line of Actual Control (LAC) signed by an Indian government-backed by your (Congress) party! What to do with a 50-year-old juvenile who persists in trying to embarrass India but with no knowledge of its history?" Panda shot back at Gandhi, thus contradicting the claims of Jaishankar.
