New Delhi: The Supreme Court is currently hearing Rahul Gandhi's petition to dismiss a criminal contempt petition filed against him by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi over his ‘chowkidar chor hai’ remarks on the Rafale fighter jets deal concluded by the Modi government.

Rahul Gandhi has reportedly issued an apology to the apex court for his attribution to the court and is likely to file an affidavit expressing his apology.

Supreme Court to Rahul:

When have you (Rahul Gandhi) apologised to us?

Where is that statement (on apology)?

Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Rahul Gandhi's lawyer to SC:

Regret is same as apology

I have made three errors. I accept. I wrongly attributed the statements to My Lord. I apologised.

Never intended to suggest that the SC endorsed, adopted or supported the political slogan ‘Chowkidar chor hai’.
