R-Day Tractor Rally: Route, security arrangement, advisory

Ahead of the farmers' tractor rally on Republic Day, here is a look at the routes approved by the Delhi Police, the security arrangements in place and the list of advisories released by the farmers' unions.

New Delhi: Traffic police in the national capital will be busy making arrangements on Monday night for the proposed tractor parade by the agitating farmers on January 26. The police will be diverting traffic at various points during the tractor parade originating from Singhu border, Tikri border and Ghazipur border. Police have appealed to the people to avoid the tractor parade route in order to avoid being stuck in a traffic jam.

According to joint commissioner of Delhi police, Meenu Chaudhary, permission has been given for the tractor parade to be taken out on three routes starting from Singhu border, Ghazipur border and Tikri border. Keeping these three routes of tractor parade in mind, the traffic police has made elaborate arrangements. Traffic police efforts are to ensure that people face minimum problems.

Route of Singhu border rally

According to joint commissioner Meenu Chaudhary, the tractor parade originating from Singhu border will pass through Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Delhi Technical University, Shahbad Dairy, Barwala village, Puth Khurd village, Kanjhavala T-point, Kanjhavala Chowk, Kutubgarh to enter Haryana from Auchandi border. In view of this, the traffic will be diverted on NH-44, GT Road, Singhu border, Ashoka Farm, Mukarba Chowk and GTK Depot.

Those going to Bawana can take the Jail Road G3S Mall, Rohini East Metro Station, Rithala, Helipad T-point, Utsav Residency, DSIDC road and Jhanda Chowk route.

Those coming from Kanjhavala can use Karala, Kanjhavala village, Jayanti Toll and Kutubgadh Gadhi road.

Route of Tikri border rally

According to joint commissioner Meenu Chaudhary, the tractor parade originating from Tikri border will go to Bahadurgarh via Nangloi, Baprola village, Najafgarh, Jharoda border and Rohtak bypass. Vehicular traffic will be closed on Kiradi to Rohtak road. Traffic will be diverted on Ghevra turning, Piragadhi Chowk, Jhatikara turning and Najafgarh-Dwarka turning. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed on Jhatikara turning, Najafgarh – Dwarka turning and Goyla dairy. There will also be diversion near Jharoda Nala and Najafgarh Nala. She appealed to people to avoid Rohtak road, Tikri border, Nangaloi – Najafgarh road.

The route starting from Ghazipur border will enter UP via NH 24, Road No 56, ISBT Anand Vihar and Apsara border. Because of this, commercial vehicles will not be allowed to ply. There will diversion on NH 24 at Nala Cut and Kundali Light. There will also be diversion on Road No. 56 at Hasanpur Depot, Padpadganj Industrial Area, ITI college and near Ram Mandir. Traffic will not be allowed towards Apsara border.

What are the security measures?

After agreement with farmers' unions, in principle permission has been granted to the tractor rally. Barricades and security points will be removed from the protest sites. Tractors will be allowed to come up to 70 km on the peripheral road. Volunteers of the farmers unions will work with the police of Delhi, UP and Haryana. After talks with the Delhi Police, farmers unions too are making arrangements. Delhi Police spokesman and Special Commissioner (Intelligence) Deependra Pathak said he has shared a list with the farmers union in which all arrangements have been mentioned that are need to ensure the rally passes off peacefully. According to Pathak, taking out the rally peacefully is going to be challenging. Arrangements have been made for area security checks, deployment of forces and to meet medical emergency.

Farmers Unions too released a guideline

Farmers Unions have completed the preparations for taking out a tractor rally on the Republic Day (January 26). This is going to be a historic event when this rally is going to be held on a national festival. People have many questions in their mind about this event. While the police administration is trying to ensure law and order, farmer leaders are busy removing confusion about the tractor parade. The Joint Farmers Forum has unanimously prepared a guideline for the parade. They have set up a helpline -- 7428384230.

Advisory before tractor parade

1. Only tractors and other vehicles will be allowed but there will not be any trolly, except those trollies on which special plaques have been set up.

2. Participants have been advised to keep with them drinking water and ration to last 24 hours.

3. Joint Farmers' Forum has appealed to furl the national tricolour along with the flag of the farmers' union. Flag of no political party to be allowed.

4. No weapon to be allowed. No provocative or negative slogan to be raised.

Advisory during the parade

1. Parade will be led by the vehicles of farmer leaders. No tractor or vehicle will be allowed ahead of them.

2. The route of the parade has been earmarked. There are nine places earmarked for parade out which five are on the border of Delhi.

3. It is the decision of the joint farmers' forum that if anyone stops any vehicle without valid reason and tries to set up camp, the volunteers will remove them. All the vehicles will return only after completing the parade.

4. A maximum of five persons, including the driver will be allowed on a tractor. No one will be allowed on bonnet, bumper or hood.

5. Every tractor will run in a file and no one will be allowed to race. No one shall overtake or run parallel to the vehicles of leaders of the farmers.

6. No one will play audio from the music system so that advisories issued by the organiser can be heard with ease.

7. All types of intoxicant will be prohibited during the parade.

Everyone has been advised to take care of themselves and to contact volunteers in case of any problem. In view of the tractor rally, the Delhi police has not detained anyone after the talks between the farmers and the police.
