PSA against 28 people in Jammu & Kashmir revoked

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has revoked Public Safety Act (PSA) against 28 people. With this development, the number of PSA detention orders revoked after an outbreak of deadly coronavirus has crossed 69.

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has revoked the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) against 28 individuals which included a Valley's prominent businessman, the officials said to ETV Bharat.

"The list includes 22 people who are presently lodged in Uttar Pradesh jails while six are in Kashmir prisons. The PSA against Valley's prominent businessman Muhammad Yasin Khan, who heads Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), has also been revoked," a senior official J&K Home Department said.

He maintained that the names of two associates of Peoples Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone are also in the list.

"All these people were detained and booked under the PSA after the abrogation of article 370 and 35A of the IPC," he said, adding that they are likely to be released in the next week after the completion of all legal procedures.

With this development, the number of PSA detention orders revoked after an outbreak of deadly coronavirus has crossed 69. According to the officials, more people will be released in the coming days.
