Protest held in Mizoram against coup in Myanmar

The protest saw many Myanmarese of Zo origin holding placard in protest against the military coup staged by commander-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing. The protestors said that Mizoram will always stand with our Zo brothers and sisters of Myanmar.

Aizawl: The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the largest student apex body of Mizoram on Wednesday staged a protest demanding the restoration of Democracy in Myanmar.

The protest saw many Myanmarese of Zo origin holding placard in protest against military coup staged by commander-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing.

At the protest, various NGOs of Mizoram were present, giving speeches and said that Mizoram will always stand with our Zo brothers and sisters of Myanmar.

Ricky Colney, a member of NorthEast Students’ Organisation (NESO) stated that Mizo are organizing a protest against the military coup in Myanmar.

He said, “MZP and the Mizo people are standing strongly with the people of Myanmar as many Mizo descendants are living in Chin and other states of Myanmar. We also urged the Indian government to intervene, and help to restore democracy back in the country as earliest as possible.”
