New Delhi: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday attended a prayer meet at the Valmiki temple in Delhi for the 19-year-old girl who was murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. The girl died earlier this week.
Addressing a crowd, Priyanka said "We will ensure justice for our sister. We won't sit quietly till she does not get justice."
She further added, "The Government hasn't done anything to help. Her family is feeling helpless. That is why we have come here. We want to ensure her family that they are not alone."
Priyanka Gandhi attends prayer meet for Hathras victim in Delhi The Congress leader alleged that the victim's cremation was not done according to the Hindu customs as her father or brother could not light the pyre.
"Her father and her brother didn't perform the last rites. These are not our customs. This is a complete injustice to her. No funeral should be performed after the sunset. We cannot remain silent," she said.

Congress even asked all the party members to organize prayer meetings in Valmiki temple across India in solidarity to the Hathras victim.
Gandhi also appealed to the media to pressurize the Government to seek justice into the matter.
She asserted, "I want to say that every woman and man in this country needs to raise their voice against the injustice done to a girl and whatever is happening with her family in the last 3-4 days. Media should raise this issue strongly. We will put political pressure on the Government."
Congress is continuously hitting out at the government over the matter, demanding the immediate resignation of Uttar Pradesh Cheif Minister Yogi Adityanath for failing to maintain law and justice in the state.
