Safety measures in place for Aero India 2021, says Rajnath Singh

Union Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh said that Aero India 2021 would take place with necessary precautions and safety measures. He attended an apex committee meeting of Aero India in Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru.

Bengaluru:Union Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh said that necessary precautions and safety measures would be taken in Aero India 2021. He made the statement while addressing media after an apex committee meeting of Aero India in Vidhana Souda.

Speaking to reporters, Singh said Bengaluru has witnessed many Aero India events and it has a lot of experience in conducting Aero India. "I am confident that this time it would be a successful event amidst Covid," he added.

The Apex committee meeting was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Air Force officers.

Aero India 2019 had witnessed two accidents. One happened during a practice session in which two IAF pilots lost life in an air accident and in another, a fire broke out in a parking section devastating more than 300 cars.

Aero India 2021 promises to showcase India's aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities as it also seeks investments in India owing to a series of policy initiatives in defence such as an increase in FDI to 74 per cent through the automatic route.

The defence minister had earlier reaffirmed India's resolve to be among the top five countries of the world in aerospace and defence manufacturing.

In earlier reports, Defence Minister expressed confidence that Aero India 2021 would demonstrate India's ability to take the lead and further build the country's strengths in the post-Covid world.
