Pol Expert Subimal Bhattacharjee hails Modi's 'neighbourhood first policy'

Political and strategic affairs expert Subimal Bhattacharjee praised PM Modi's 'neighbourhood first policy' on Friday. A few days ago, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had said that the modification of Article 370 in J&K is India's internal matter. It was after this, that Bhattarcharjee's statement on the PM's policy has come.

New Delhi: Days after both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka said that the modification of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir is India's internal matter, political and strategic affairs expert Subimal Bhattacharjee on Friday praised Modi's 'neighbourhood first policy'.

"Ever since the Narendra Modi Government came to power, it has adopted a neighbourhood first policy. And now all the neighbouring countries understand our position and importance," said Subimal Bhattacharjee.

Soon after coming to power consecutively for the second time, Prime Minister Modi began his foreign visit to Bhutan. Modi had a two-day-long Bhutan visit recently where he signed several agreements with the Bhutanese government.

"Both the countries (Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) are absolutely right. Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India...they have understood that Pakistan has been doing mischief," added Bhattacharjee.

On Thursday, a statement from the Sri Lankan President's office welcomed the decision of making Ladakh a Union Territory. In fact, Sri Lanka was one of the first countries in the region to call New Delhi's decision as an internal one.
