Peace Party files curative petition against Ayodhya verdict

The Peace Party of India has filed a curative petition on Tuesday in the Supreme Court against the Ayodhya verdict on the basis of "face of the error in the judgement".

New Delhi: The Peace Party of India, a political party from Uttar Pradesh has filed a curative petition on Tuesday in the Supreme Court against the Ayodhya verdict.

Asking the top court to reconsider its decision, Mohammed Ayub, the president of Peace Party of India, said that the petition has been filed on the basis of "face of the error in the judgement".

"Till the very last day of the demolition of the mosque, Muslims were offering namaz in the inner circle of the mosque and they had never left possession. The judgement of the apex court agrees that the mosque was demolished illegally and it was never constructed by destructing the mosque, said Mohammad Ayub explaining that the court had accepted this fact in favour of Muslims.

"The Muslims have been given five acres of land in lieu of the Ram Janmabhoomi which would have not been granted if the land did not belong to the Muslims. Muslims did not accept the compensation of 5 acres because its a matter of natural justice which should be decided based upon the facts", he added.

Notably, the peace party had also filed a review petition last year on the verdict along with other parties which were dismissed by the apex court on December 12 last year.
