New Delhi: A day after four people including a baby girl were injured in a terrorist attack at Baramullah in Jammu and Kashmir, former BSF Director General (DG) Prakash Singh on Saturday said that Pakistan is "desperately trying to get global attention."

The former BSF DG also said that Pakistan is trying to bring global attention to stray incidents happening in Jammu and Kashmir.

"They have already tried to create disturbances in JK. In fact, they want to intrude hardcore militants in JK to attract world attention by creating violent incidents," said Singh.

"The incident took place one month after the modification of provisions in Article 370. In Kashmir, we have had incidents of great frequency and heavy casualties, the government should ensure that there is no violence in the region," he added.

Terming Kashmir as a conflict zone, Singh said, "We should not be worried about this one-off incident that took place in the last one month."

Meanwhile, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has asked authorities to bring the girl to AIIMS in New Delhi for treatment.

The two-and-half-year-old girl was injured after a militant reportedly opened fire, targetting a family in Baramulla.
