Srinagar: Pakistan on Monday resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control in the Mendhar sector in Poonch using small arms and mortars, officials said.
The Army said that it is giving a befitting response to Pakistani aggression. Earlier in the day, Pakistan had resorted to ceasefire violation along the LoC in the Mankote sector.
There has been a spurt in ceasefire violations along the LoC in the Kupwara district of North Kashmir and to the South of Pir Panchal in Rajouri and Poonch.
In the past, Pakistan gave cover fire to the infiltrators by resorting to unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC.

Pakistan has been targeting civilian areas and defence positions along the LoC with small arms and mortars, drawing a befitting response from the army. On July 25, the Pakistan troops had violated the LOC ceasefire for the 4th consecutive day in Poonch district.
Pakistan has been violating the ceasefire with impunity since the beginning of this year. So far, in 2020, more than 2,700 ceasefire violations have been reported, in which 21 civilians have been killed and 94 injured.
Hundreds of border villagers are living on the edge as Pakistan shelling and firing has been endangering their lives, homes, and cattle.
