Pak boat carrying narcotics apprehended off Gujarat

Indian Coast Guard apprehended a Pakistan boat off Gujarat coast for carrying narcotics. The narcotics material has been identified as Brown Sugar. After apprehending the vessel, ICG escorted it to Jakhau station.

New Delhi: After apprehending a Pakistan boat off Gujarat for carrying narcotics, the Indian Coast Guard officials on Wednesday said that after conducting an extensive search for two days, they identified the narcotics material as 'Brown Sugar'.

Speaking exclusively with ETV Bharat, Coast Guard ADG VSR Murthy said that they carried out an extensive search of the area. "There were reports that one suspicious boat carrying narcotics is near IMBL. So, all our aircraft and surface assets kept a watch on the area. After conducting an extensive search for two days we succeeded in identifying that they were carrying packets of 195 packets of Brown Sugar," he said.

After receiving intelligence input from NTRO and DRI, ICG swung into action and deployed ship Srinjay along with two interceptor boats. Dernier aircraft was also launched for the aerial recce. "After apprehension of this vessel which happened to be Pakistani fishing boat with 6 crew members, we escorted this vessel to Jakhau station" added Murthy.
