Kasba (Uttar Pradesh):A video of over 250 Indian citizens imprisoned in a single room in Saudi Arabia surfaced on Saturday.
A video which became viral on several social media platforms claims that over 250 Indian citizens are forced to stay in a single room after the country induced the coronavirus lockdown in March this year.
Sabana, wife of the man who shot the viral video According to reports, the video was shot by Mustakim, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Kasba, who went to the Land of the Two Holy Mosques days before India announced a nationwide coronavirus lockdown to arrest the spread of the deadly virus.
Voice recording sent by Mustakim to his wife in India Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sabana, wife of the man who shot the viral video said that her husband went to Saudi Arabia 15 days before the lockdown.
Over 250 Indians prisoned in single room in Saudi Arabia "My husband had gone to Saudi to work on a construction site. He has been locked up in a single room along with 250-300 people for the last six months", said Sabana.
Further, she alleged that her husband used to complain about the gruesome behaviour of the Saudi government towards Indian citizens.
When asked about the reason for her husband in prison, she said, "After Saudi had induced lockdown, the government ordered not to move out of the house before 9 am. Unaware of the situation, he moved out at 8:30 am and following which the police took him in a room where 300 people had already been staying."
She further appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the matter and urged the government to bring her husband back.
"Many Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals have been released by the Saudi government. But they have locked up only Indian citizen", alleged Sabana.
The Indian government under the banner of the Vande Bharat Mission started evacuating Indians stranded abroad due to coronavirus restrictions. As per the Civil Aviation Minister, more than 15 lakh people have returned through various modes including more than 4.5 lakh on flights.
