To keep the motivation high among students & teachers during & after the period of COVID Pandemic, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Cabinet Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India has directed the HRD Ministry to create a dedicated cell that will address all mental health issues of the students & teachers. The mental health issues both during and post COVID Pandemic will be addressed. The cell will be headed by a Joint Secretary at MHRD.
Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' also interacted through video conference with Vice Chancellors of Central Universities across the country in backdrop of spread of COVID-19. Following points were discussed during the meeting:-
- Measures to be taken regarding health of students residing in hostels and academic and non-academic staff of the university.
- Proper adherence to social distancing and isolation instructions in the university.
- Provision for testing of suspected cases of COVID-19 in the University.
- Arrangements made to continue the education of students
- Management to deal with mental health challenges of students.
- Resolve the salary related problems of all employees (permanent, temporary and daily wage earners).
- Initiatives related to COVID-19 to be informed through social media.
- Research related to COVID-19 may be carried out.
