NSG needs to be ahead of terrorists in tech and training: G Kishan Reddy

Addressing the 36th Raising Day of National Security Guard, MoS for Home Affairs G.Kisan Reddy said that NSG has to be ten steps ahead of terrorists in the field of technology and training. In the last 36 years, NSG has conducted 116 operations in which 60 terrorists were killed.

New Delhi:Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on Friday said the National Security Guards (NSG) should be the well-equipped on the technology front in order to effectively counter sophisticated warfare and weaponry.

Speaking on the 36th Raising Day of National Security Guard (NSG), G Kishan Reddy said, "NSG is counted one amongst the best counter-terror forces in the world. The world is making progress in the field of science of technology and so the terrorists have also started using new high-tech arms and in a situation like this NSG has to be 10 steps forward from them in the field of weapon technology and training."

He said in the last 36 years, NSG has conducted 116 operations in which 60 terrorists were killed.

"In the same line, NSG has developed capabilities like mobility, surveillance, firepower and counter UAV. The NSG is not only developing itself but it is also helping the different security forces of the country in increasing their working capacity," the MoS for Home Affairs added.

G Kishan Reddy said NSG has played an important role in providing specialised counter-terrorist training to the security forces and bomb disposal, K9 and cutting-edge training infrastructure provided by the NSG was very beneficial for the security forces.

He said, "I am happy to know that along with operational works NSG is also participating in the initiatives started by the government like fight against COVID-19, Fit India movement and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan."

While speaking about the achievements of NSG, the force DG SS Deswal said that Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane had conferred the COAS Unit Appreciation to 51 Special Action Group of the NSG in recognition of the Group’s outstanding achievements in combating terrorism.

NSG is Federal Contingency World Class Zero Error Force to deal with anti-terrorist activities in all its manifestation. The NSG is a Force specially equipped and trained to deal with specific situations and is, therefore, to be used only in exceptional circumstances to thwart serious acts of terrorism.
