No major incident of law and order violation in Kashmir: Officials

There has been no major incident of law and order violation in Kashmir Valley and life is slowly returning to normal, top Jammu and Kashmir administration officials said on Wednesday.

Jammu:With the communication blackout in Kashmir entering its 17th consecutive day on Wednesday after it was imposed following the modification of Article 370 on August 5, the top brass of Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday said that there has been no major incident of law and order violation in Kashmir Valley.

Briefing media persons in Srinagar along with DIG Central Range V.K.Birdi and Director School Education Kashmir Range, Director Information and Public Relations, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar said that no law and order problem was reported from Jammu Division where all the schools and educational institutions are functioning normally.

However, she said that there were some minor stray incidents in Kashmir Valley which were dealt with locally.

Asgar also said that adequate stock of essential commodities is available in the Valley with Hospitals and Banks functioning smoothly.

She said that in the offices of Deputy Commissioner, about 80- 90 per cent employees are attending their duties whereas in other offices the number of employees attending their duties is 70 to 80 per cent.

Central Kashmir DIG VK Birdi said, “The areas where relaxation was extended they also behaved normally. In a few pockets, there were minor incidents of stone-pelting. The situation is being monitored closely. No major law and order incident observed today."


Meanwhile, Director School Education Kashmir, Muhammad Younis Malik said, "Throughout 10 districts of division 774 middle schools were opened today. Over the past three days, there has been an improvement in attendance in schools. Mor than 60 to 70 percent of staff members have turned up. But, the attendance of school students is gradually improving."
