No girl wants to marry in this Bihar village

Basic health and medical facilities still remain a distant dream for Rampur village in Gopalganj area due to which most of the young men are still bachelors. Locals claimed that politicians only come at the time of elections but have failed to deliver their promise.

Gopalganj: Despite the tall promises of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar about his 'Saat Nischay' programme, Rampur village in Nagar Panchayat Barauli still lacks basic facilities of health, education and medical treatment. The villagers of the village are irked over the government's failure to deliver their promises despite repeated assurances. The village has a population of around 3000 people.

Most of the elders in the village dream to see their children getting married. But due to the lack of basic facilities, people from another village are not willing to send their daughters here. People of Gopalganj village have complained about lack of health and medical facilities but no developmental work has been done by the state government.

According to locals, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Saat Nischay programme has failed in their village. They said that our village still lacks a good road, the reason why our children are unmarried.

"We have to face a lot of difficulties when any medical emergency arises. At many times, we carry the patient on a cot due to the dearth of roads. Our children are not able to go to school," locals said.

Most of the youth raised apprehensions that the absence of necessary facilities is creating hurdles in their marriage.

Local Ajay Kumar told ETV Bharat, "No one is willing to send their daughters to our village. As soon as they come to know about the absence of schools and hospitals here, they call off the marriage."

Locals complained that leaders across various political spectrums come only once-during elections. They said that leaders come and make big promises but have not fulfilled any of them.

"I am waiting for my son to get married. After visiting our village, people refuse to give their daughters here. There is no proper connectivity," said a local Kulamudin Ansari.

"Till date, we have only received electricity but we want proper sanitation, drinking water, Anganwadi centres and other facilities to make our lives better." locals said.
